What is a doula? 

A doula is a professional birth support person who is educated in pregnancy + childbirth. Our main priority is making sure that the expecting parent is confident, prepared, + well-taken care of throughout pregnancy, labor, and/or after birth.

what does "doula " mean?

The word "doula" is of Greek origin; it means "woman who serves"; but anyone can be a doula.

what do doulas do?

We provide emotional and physical support

We offer information + resources (offer but never push)

Help new parents become informed about their birth options 

Help facilitate communication between mother + care provider

what don't doulas do?

We are completely non-medical

We do not give medical advice or diagnose any conditions

We do not perform any medical exams

We do not change shifts; we are with you from beginning to end

We do not try to replace the role of the partner (but rather, to support it)
